The Delaware County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is currently in the process of working with the various pipeline companies that operate pipelines within Delaware County to update Emergency Response Plans. The LEPC has been conducting a survey of general information relative to the transportation of hazardous materials.
The initiative is similar to that carried out annually with all SARA Title III facilities in Delaware County. This initiative is necessary to insure compliance with the LEPC’s charge regarding emergency planning for hazardous and extremely hazardous substances, SARA Title III requirements as well as Pennsylvania Act 165 and the local Emergency Management programs.
The goal of the LEPC Initiative is to enhance emergency management response capabilities, promote strong partnerships between industry, public officials and responders, and to protect the safety of our citizens.
The LEPC Initiative Coordinators will be working to compile and updated information on pipeline service, commodities, emergency contacts, emergency plan information and general routes of pipeline systems.
